Targeting Success: Develop the Right Business Attitude to be Successful in the Workplace WINS in the Career Category

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  March 28, 2013
Contact: LORII MYERS/Lorii@3-Off-the-Tee.com

Author receives national recognition

Through the SECOND ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL BEVERLY HILLS BOOK AWARDS!
Toronto -- The SECOND ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL Beverly Hills Book Awards recognized Targeting Success:  Develop the Right Business Attitude to be Successful in the Workplace by Lorii Myers in the category of Career as a winner.

This INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARD CONTEST, based in BEVERLY HILLS CA is open to all English language books in print.

The competition is judged by experts from all aspects of the book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters. They select award winners and finalists based on overall excellence.

Targeting Success:  Develop the Right Business Attitude to be Successful in the Workplace is a non-fiction book and is the first volume in the multi-award winning 3 Off the Tee book series:

Today’s workplace requires a new way of thinking. Whether you’re an employee, employer or entrepreneur, the corporate world offers a tough, competitive playing field. The challenges faced are two-fold: how to self-improve and succeed, and how to thrive through tough economic times. To be successful, you have to see not only the whole ‘course’ but learn how to handle each ‘hazard’ or ‘trap’ and make the most out of what you bring to the game. In short, you must develop and hone your competitive edge.
In business, like the game of golf, you need to develop the confidence and skills to face any challenge.
Whether or not you have ever hit the links, 3 Off the Tee: Targeting Success by business wunderkind Lorii Myers, takes you from the first hole through to the eighteenth to teach you how to make the most out of your business life and play the corporate game successfully. 3 Off the Tee: Targeting Success is about learning to develop the right attitude and a smart work ethic. It’s about your life in the workplace and making every day count.
“The ‘three off the tee’ mentality,” says Myers, “means that even if you make a bad play, learn from it and move forward, better than before. Recognize that you always have choices and decisions to make and that you have to make them. Analyze the best route to get yourself back in play – your ‘recovery shot’ – and go for it!”
By using golf analogies and personal stories from Myers’ thirty plus years of business experience, 3 Off the Tee: Targeting Success teaches the reader to utilize the game of golf as a metaphor for business life:

  • The 1st Hole: Self-assess and shift your attitude
  • The 2nd Hole: Learn to improve
  • The 3rd Hole: Break down barriers
  • The 4th Hole: Focus on making decisions
  • The 5th Hole: Upgrade your confidence
  • The 6th Hole: Accept challenge
  • The 7th Hole: Relationship equity part one: Recognize positive influence
  • The 8th Hole: Relationship equity part two: Communicate fairly
  • The 9th Hole: Utilize your strengths

And that’s only half the game!

Whether it's day one on the job or decades into your career, 3 Off the Tee: Targeting Success shows you how to develop a winning attitude, face challenges head on, and make the most of your strengths. No matter the environment or how competitive the field, 3 Off the Tee: Targeting Success will have you feeling challenged, inspired, and ready to take on the corporate world.

“I wanted a fun, refreshing and streamlined structure for this book,” Myers adds, “and so using a round of golf – the front nine, the turn, the back nine and the 19th hole seemed the perfect fit. What’s better than a business book using golf analogies, formatted around the game of golf!”

“We are so proud to announce the winners in this, our second year,” said awards sponsor Ellen Reid. “These books will be a favorite on bookshelves for years to come".

Local Author receives national recognition
Through National Indie Excellence Awards

Ontario Canada -- The Sixth Annual National Indie Excellence Awards recognized 3 Off the Tee:  Targeting Success by Lorii Myers in the category of Motivational as a Finalist.

This national award, based in Los Angeles, CA is open to all English language books including small presses, university presses, independent publishers and self-published authors. Works published in 2009, 2010 and 2011 were eligible for consideration.

The competition is judged by independent experts from all aspects of the indie book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters. They select award winners and finalists based on overall excellence of presentation.
3 Off the Tee:  Targeting Success is a business / non-fiction book.
Synopsis:
Are you ready to play to win?

When business professional Lorii Myers decided to write a motivational book that used “golf as a metaphor for life,” it was because she saw the game of golf as a perfect reflection of what a person needs to do to be successful in their career. Myers: “I love golf because, as in any game, you are always trying to improve. You are always working on your abilities and skills, but you also want to improve your score. In the working world, you want to get better at what you do, but you also want to improve your skill sets and knowledge base so you become a better employee.”

Myers named her book 3 Off the Tee: Targeting Success to represent the kind of choices we all want to make in our daily work life.  Not only do you have to read the course, you have to know how to deal with the hazards.  You even have to deal with your own abilities, knowing that a slice could cost you a stroke or two.  “When you make a bad play,” Myers says, “in golf or in business, it’s not the end of the world. It is just time to regroup, work a little harder, and get back on track.”

It’s clear that Myers’s purpose is to help others make the most of themselves no matter if they are new on the job or high up on the corporate ladder. Utilizing the framework of a round of golf, she takes readers through the career game from the first hole to the eighteenth, focusing our attention on what makes a businessperson successful every step along the way.

The “Front Nine” is about self-perception and self-direction. It unveils and discusses the finer points of self-improvement, the development of confidence, the value of ethics, and how to become a positive influence at work, which involves learning how to communicate fairly.

The “Back Nine” delves into effective success strategies for employees and employers alike and is a call to action to engage in proper leadership, empowerment, teamwork building, and learning how to become proactive effecting positive change.
“We appreciate you, we applaud you, and we thank you for your great work. You are contributing to make independent publishing a great sector in the literary community,” said Ellen Ried, President of the National Indie Excellence Book Awards.

Global Ebook Finalist 2011 - Best Book Trailer

Global Ebook Finalist 2011 - Best Non-fiction Book Trailer

I am getting a lot of great feedback about this book trailer.

When we first started working on it, trying to figure out how to create a trailer for a non-fiction book we were kind of stumped.  You have no characters to portray and there is no mysterious plot line to tempt your audience with.

As much as I loved writing the manuscript I must confess that when it was complete and the focus switched to designing the cover and book trailer -- it was over the top fun and exciting.  It was amazing to see the entire process come together and take shape!

New challenges, great opportunities!

Educated Optimism -- Mindset or Lifestyle or Both!

Educated Optimism is the title of the last chapter in my first book 3 Off the Tee:  Targeting Success.

The basic concept...

[Excerpt from Targeting Success]
This kind of self-study works and it turns you into an educated optimist.  You are mentally stimulated; you know a little abut a lot of different things that you are interested in, and you have a lot to talk about.  You have effectively rendered yourself interesting.

When you continue to learn, you invest in yourself -- this is one of the best investments you can make!  Really!  It's making the time to explore, expand and grow -- and of course having fun doing it.

I recently talked to a group of people where I asked, "What is going on in your life?"  A simple question but the answers were astounding and varied from over the top enthusiastist to bleak, bogged down, in a rut, and stuck!

The Enthusiasts!!!  had the following commonality - they were "doing!" -- learning, traveling, interacting.

Those feeling stuck!!!  -- were stuck -- repeating the same patterns over and over.  Moreover though they lacked in general optimism -- they had little to look forward to.

So I thought -- how does one make the transition from stuck to enthusiastic?  Does it start with your mindset or the lifestyle that you create?  Do the two go hand in hand?

(I hadn't realized it at the time but where I ended book one -- Targeting Success, was a great springboard for book two -- Make it Happen which is in for final edit now.  Sometimes things do just fall into place!)

So, my question to you?  What is going on in your life?

If you are an Enthusiast, where does your sense of optimism come from? and When do you feel the rush of being able to do anything -- like you are invincible?

If you are feeling stuck, what do you want to do?  When are you going to start?

Start mulling it over!

For me a healthy, competitive mindset is key and my lifestyle is reflective of that mindset.  There is no limit to the great things I "visualize" ahead of me.

... The more I do and the harder I work, the brighter my future!!!
