Someone hacked into my facebook account yesterday. They sent out a query from what appeared to be a friend which read:
Hey Lorii What's up with you in this video. Pretty embarrassing! LOL
I of course thought... WHAT????
So, from a normal looking email notification -- I click on it -- then I'm asked for my login and password -- and then I, assuming that this is totally normal -- enter my login and password.
Of course I cannot open the video... as there is no "real" embarrassing video but "they" now have my login and password.
The next thing I know there are similar type questions going out to my friends that look like they are being sent out by me... YIKES!
Shortly thereafter I was contacted by Facebook. Apparently suspicious access was gained by someone with an Ottawa based IP address and so I was prompted to change my password.
So I ask... how social is this network?
Check the "social" def below! Let the hackers comply!
Social definition, pertaining to, devoted to, or characterized by friendly companionship or relations: See more.dictionary.reference.com/browse/social - Cached - Similar
A little rant! Thanks to Facebook for sorting this out so quickly.
As Facebook is a big part of my social network of choice, I carry on -- cautiously.
