1) You have a choice in how you live your life and you can change midstream if you find that things aren’t working out for you. You have the ability to regroup and try again.
2) You don’t need to follow anyone’s example, and you don’t have to follow a stereotypical lifestyle. What will work for you?
3) Perhaps you are content with your life, but contentment can sometimes be the beginning of complacency. Examine whether you are truly content and whether that contentment has enough substance to last you a lifetime. If not, embrace change.
4) You don’t need to stick with the same lifestyle all of your life. Sometimes opportunities come your way that change things. For example, in the workplace, you may find that your skills also work well in different areas where you could progress more quickly or where you feel more challenged. You may be drawn to a profession such as a journalist, performing artist, or sales and marketing executive, where extensive travel is necessary. This in itself would lead you to a different lifestyle.
5) Take time to assess what you want and need. Do this on a regular basis and address what is and isn’t working for you. Then make changes accordingly.
Here is possibly the most important thing to remember: once you figure out what you want in life—expect nothing less.
