We download our music -- most music shops have disappeared.
We rent our movies online -- most movie rental shops have disappeared.

Where "bricks and mortar" were once the big plus on the balance sheet, today their elimination is often the means to reduced overhead, resulting in increased price competitiveness, and then increased profitability.
Is the increasing migration away from the "bricks and mortar" costs of owning and maintaining "buildings" of all types the plumb line to a survival strategy that works in the new competitive world as we now know it?
