THE BIG "PUSH"

Pro-activity – that`s the big “push.”

It`s the conscious decision made to initiate preventative OR positive change.

Preventative change:  It`s getting in shape because you want to, not because your lack of attention got the "best of you" and now you are falling in and out of shock as your doctor describes your self-induced health risks.  It’s a preventer – you keep the odds in your favor.

OR

Positive change:  It's making changes to make your life positively better.

I have an undying confidence -- I think I can do anything!  Where does that come from?

If I want to do something, I think about the gap between where I am  now and where I want to be and do it.  I see the challenge and immediately push to come up with my best plan to get there.  I push and I push hard!

My desires take priority.

The big "push” as I think of it also works as an excuse blocker.  As we are targeting excuses in this project, let’s think of them  as being filtered into three main categories:  FEAR, LAZINESS,  & STUFF YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO DO.

Fear:  This usually stems from  a fear of failure, rejection, or loss.

Laziness:  This results from  you making the decision that the quest is too much for you.

and.... Stuff you just don't want to do:  You know, the stuff that could be done but you have no interest in doing it!

To be clear, do you have to do everything?  Maybe you just need to prioritize what you want to do, will do and then go for it.  Then "PUSH" IT REAL HARRRRRRRRD!

What are you going to do this year?  What it your big push?

  1. I read self-improvement books with the view to living my life "positively better" (I like your terminology!!). Below are various excerpts from books that have made me really think about "fear":

Fear is little more than wasted energy; not just wasted energy, but negative energy.

    It's fear of the unknown...

Don't confuse FEAR with not being ready.

Fear is not a prediction of doom, but rather an emotional recognition of what we do not want to happen.
